Lenny McKinnon illustrating the follow through |
A common fault I often see working with students is topping the golf ball.
This occurs primarily because the student does not stay in their posture
throughout the swing, i.e. they stand up in the downswing. An effective
drill I use to remedy this is to place a tee (or other small object) in
front of the ball. The student is then instructed to hit the ball and then
the tee. This gives the student
something to focus on and help them stay down through the entire swing. If
you're having problems topping the ball, give this drill a try. You'll
start staying down, taking a little divot and hitting the ball more solidly.
