The 11th - “Creek”
The 11th has the most beautiful relationship with “10 Mile Creek” as it comes alongside the tees and along the edge of the fairway. The creek also plays a role in presenting arguably the most intimidating tee shot on the course. Looks can be deceiving though as the fairway is relatively wide. Shorter hitters should probably favor a line at the bunker on the left side of the fairway as it is the shorter carry over the wetlands and the bunker is mostly in play for longer hitters. When thee pin is back left there is a better angle to go for the green in two down the right, where there is more room than there appears to be, but is a longer carry off the tee. For those who decide to lay-up, lay-up! The open bit of fairway on the left side of the bunker short and right of the green is attractive, but it is a “sucker” spot that leaves a difficult to very difficult approach. If the pin is back left the best lay-up is still short of the bunker but favoring the middle of the fairway. This is a unique green because the back tier is lower than the rest of the green and is bordered in the back by a chipping area mown at fairway height. There are two other distinct “sections” to the green on the back left and the front right. The best advice is to make sure to get around the section the pin is in as putting and chipping is more difficult for those who have to go cross country on this green.
