The 3rd - “Grouse Run”
Possibly the most beautiful hole on the course! Only the 12th is a shorter par four, but the 3rd offers seemingly limitless variety. Off the tee the player has three options. The first is to play at the bunker in the middle of the fairway, with for most a fairway wood or long iron, leaving a short iron approach to the green. The second option is to play just right of the middle bunker with a driver and try to thread the 30 yard wide needle that then opens up to an expanse fairway. This option will leave a shot of less than 100 yards, but check the pin location before trying, as this angle is not good for pins on the left side of the green. The third option is to grip it and rip it at the green! From the back tee carry over the wetlands is approximately 275 yards and another 50 yards to the green. At this altitude some longer players can make the green.
The green is one of the smallest on the course. It is relatively flat, but situated in such a way that placement off the tee is important if your goal is to make birdie. Even conservative play in this hole can leave a very make-able birdie putt.
