The 9th - “Scot”
A hole of great variety and option. Thus is a hole where length off the tee is only valuable when it is very accurate. The safer the play off the tee may also be the smartest as a shot short of the left bunker gives the player a full view of the green from a good angle. For the longer player that does not skirt the left bunker, rather kinking down to the right, a short, but blind shot is what comes next. Avoid the right bunker at all cost.
the shot to the green must both negotiate the bunkers and the attention drawing views. The green is the largest on the course, but a variety of slopes make getting the ball close to the hole a matter of distance control. With the pin on the right front, a slope just off the green will carry balls down away from the green. Be careful when attacking the pins in the back as there is a rather steep slope immediately behind the green where the recovery will be tricky.
The green contains a lower “cup” that can either make for a short putt or an interesting shot from around the green.
